O'Fallon

Rating: T3, P3, N2  Note the change.
Description: Part of Denver Mountain Parks, the trails connect to Lair of the Bear. This allows us to get to some parts of the trails we don't have time for from Lair. From the top, it's a short run down the road to the top of Mt. Falcon. There are several good picnic areas at the base.

Much of the trails are shaded, providing good protection from wind and sun. This means that the trails hold snow through the colder months, and can be icy and muddy. So, we usually avoid this over the winter.

Routes: Main route follows blue arrows. Orange arrows show longer options. Yellow arrows are for extra short, only if you are walking or late.

Start down the dirt road to the end. Go right up the trail, Meadow View Loop. Go up the trail ~2/3 mi, to the Bear Creek trail (1). Go left ~1/3mi to the next junction (2).

Intermediate: Go right at (2) up the steep road. Stay right at (4) and follow the trail back to the Bear Creek trail (5). Stay left and continue up the Bear Creek trail. Slower intermediate runners can go right at either (6) or (7); both should say West Ridge Loop. Faster intermediate runners can continue out to the road (8), then return to (7). Head down the West Ridge Loop, to the Picnic Loop (either way here), then back down the the park.

Fast: Stay left on the Bear Creek Trail at (2), for another mile, to (3). There's a brown, plastic trail marker, but the trail can be overgrown and hard to see. You've gone too far if you go around the bend to the left and start climbing, and hit the 2.0 mile marker. Take a sharp right at (3), up a steep hill. Continue over the top to the Meadow View Loop (4). Go left, up the road, and continue back to the Bear Creek Trail (5). Go left and use the same options as the intermediate routes - up to (6) or (7) then down West Ridge; or out to the road (8), the back to (7) and down West Ridge.

The directions are good. Please add the following from other locations.
From Evergreen: Take hwy 74 down the canyon from Evergreen. About 1/4 mi past Meyers Gulch, turn right into the park.
Via hwy 285: Exit at Parmalee Gulch road. Go north, through Indian Hills, past the road to the upper lot at Falcon, and over the top. The road becomes Meyers Gulch at the top. Continue down to hwy 74. Turn right and go ~1/4 mi to the park.
